What a way to close out the 2014 MBAA race season! Racing in the towering pine forest just outside of Flagstaff is always a treat and this year’s event certainly did not disappoint. A few racers from Durango Devo made the trip south so it was a great chance for our team to enjoy a little out of state competition. At the end of race day our crew was all smiles despite encountering some setbacks along the way. All is a part of bike racing and everyone was having fun out there…

Andrew scored 2nd place after recovering from a crash, Olivia placed 3rd to secure her series championship win, Nick suffered an early flat tire, but was able to finish strong after repairing it and Bryce pushed his technical riding skills to a new level on the demanding course.  “Rocky Ridge” was the real gem of this year’s course. This appropriately named singletrack forces riders to focus, ride smoothly, and always be looking for ways to improve line choice.  If you can find flow on Rocky Ridge (even a little bit of it), then you’re having a great day on the bike. Devo riders loved the challenge!

Dean from www.BicycleWorld.tv captured some great shots so be sure to check out his GALLERY from the XC.

At the close of the day, we got to celebrate some outstanding Series Overall results too.  Sam Wilson and Andrew Myrick locked in their 1st and 2nd place finishes in the Cat 1 15-18 division while Olivia Nicholls secured her win in the very competitive Cat 2 15-18 division. These were some great results that highlight our MBAA season, but really it was the collective effort of the team that made for an awesome experience.

A big thank you goes out to the MBAA volunteers that help to make our race series happen.  As a nice bonus (and in collaboration with Cadence Promotion) everyone at the race scored a free T-shirt to commemorate the season with. We’re already looking forward to more great Arizona racing in 2015, but we’ll keep busy on other fronts in the meantime.

Enjoy the riding and thanks for checking in with the team!
